Ink Tag, by Eluma Labs Ltd
Privacy Policy
Last updated 7 November 2026
Ink Tag puts pictures on battery-free e-ink tags using your iPhone's NFC. The short version: Ink Tag does not collect any data about you. This page explains exactly what the app touches and why.
Who we are
Eluma Labs Ltd (company number 17129588), 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom, makes Ink Tag. For this policy we are the data controller. Contact: [email protected].
The short version
- No data collected. Ink Tag has no accounts and no sign-in, and it does not collect, store or share personal information.
- No internet. The app does not connect to any server, ours or anyone else's.
- No tracking. No analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDKs.
- Your photos stay on your iPhone. The only place a picture goes is the tag you hold your phone against.
Photos
When you choose Use my photo, Ink Tag opens Apple's photo picker. The picker runs outside the app, so Ink Tag never sees your photo library and does not ask for permission to access it. The app only receives the single photo you choose.
That photo is resized and converted to the tag's inks on your iPhone. Ink Tag does not upload it, does not save a copy to its own storage, and does not share it with anyone. It is sent only to your tag, over NFC, when you tap Send to my tag.
NFC
Ink Tag asks to use NFC so it can talk to your e-ink tag. It only uses NFC while the iOS scanning sheet is showing, after you tap a button to scan or send. It reads the tag's technical details (screen size, supported colours and an identifier the tag reports) so it can draw the picture correctly, then writes the picture to the tag.
These details are used only for that scan. They are not saved after you close the app or sent anywhere. The troubleshooting log in Tag tools shows them on screen and stays on your iPhone.
Remember that anything you put on a tag can be seen by anyone who can see the tag, and a tag can be rewritten by any compatible phone held against it.
Pictures included in the app
The stock photos, cartoon pals and designs inside Ink Tag are built into the app. Using them sends nothing anywhere.
Apple and the App Store
Apple handles downloads and updates of Ink Tag under its own privacy policy. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may give us anonymous, aggregated crash reports and usage statistics. These do not identify you, and you can turn sharing off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
This website
inky-app.site uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party fonts or scripts. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard technical information such as your IP address to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
If you email us
If you write to [email protected], we use your email address and message only to reply and help you. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering your question. We delete support emails once they are no longer needed, and within two years at most. We never add you to a mailing list.
Children
Ink Tag is suitable for all ages. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children either. If a child emails us, we use the message only to reply.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. In practice, the only personal data we could hold is a support email you sent us. Contact [email protected]. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If Ink Tag ever starts handling data differently, we will update this page before the change ships and change the date at the top.
